WILTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Holiday Hill Enterprises (“HHE”), the company behind beloved seasonal icon and bullying prevention champion Spookley the Square Pumpkin, has begun its celebration of Spookley’s 20th anniversary. Spookley fans of all ages can visit www.spookley.com to become part of the National Bullying Prevention Month Celebration, register to win prizes and gear up to watch the October 20th premiere of “The Spookley Halloween Show!” and the all-new music video “Halloween’s for Everyone!”
Spookley was first introduced to millions of children 20 years ago in author Joe Troiano’s book, The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, in which Spookley is shunned by all the round pumpkins until a mighty storm threatens the entire patch and only Spookley, with his unique shape, can save the day. Spookley has since gone on to star in two movies that air on Disney and Netflix and has grown into a perennial attraction at over 200 pumpkin patches across North America.
Spookley serves annually as the “Official Spokes-Pumpkin” for National Bullying Prevention Month through a 10+-year partnership with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, as his story helps young children understand that the things that make us different are the things that make us special.
Specific elements of Spookley’s anniversary celebration include:
The October 20th premiere of “The Spookley Halloween Show!” – For the first time on screen, we will meet all of the other holiday icons from author Joe Troiano’s Holiday Hill Farm book series. The ~14-minute “show within a show,” a collaboration among Troiano, Jim Henson Company veteran Craig Shemin and Stages Theatre Company, is primarily a live-action puppet production with a new music video from the team that brought us the Spookley movies. The creative team behind the show will be hosting a sneak peak, virtual event on Tuesday, October 19th at 8pm EST for interested members of the media.
Spookley’s New “National Bullying Prevention Month (NBPM) Celebration Kit” – Produced in association with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and Stages Theatre Company, the Kit offers a set of free resources to join Spookley and millions of others in celebrating all month long and in taking part in the world’s largest bullying prevention pledge.
A “Dare to Be Square” Prize Giveaway – Encourages fans to share what makes them special and register for a chance to win prizes including books signed by Joe Troiano, plush toys, outdoor inflatables and a grand-prize getaway to a Gaylord Resort.
Special Events and Attractions – Includes 20th anniversary-themed corn mazes and brand-new audience participation shows that are cropping up at farms across North America, plus Spookley meet-and-greet opportunities and scavenger hunts and other attractions at select pumpkin patches and themed destinations.
More information about these and other aspects of Spookley’s 20th anniversary celebration will be updated throughout the season on Spookley’s website (spookley.com), as well as on Facebook (facebook.com/Spookley/) and Instagram (@spookleythesquarepumpkin).
