Azul extends leadership in OpenJDK commercial support offerings for the enterprise market

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Azul, provider of the Java platform for the modern cloud enterprise, and the only company 100% focused on Java, today announced the immediate availability of commercial support for the Eclipse Temurin™ OpenJDK distribution as part of its Azul Platform Core offering. Enterprises adopting OpenJDK now have additional choices of contractually supported Java distributions for their development and production environments, from desktops to on-premise to cloud deployments.

“Azul is the established leader in providing commercial support offerings for OpenJDK distributions,” said Azul President, CEO & Co-Founder Scott Sellers. “By expanding our Azul Platform Core offering to include support for Eclipse Temurin, we’re giving Java users even more choice in what supported version of OpenJDK they want to use. Azul is a founding member of the Adoptium Working Group and we’re quite excited about the impact this project will have in the Java community.”

Azul is the largest commercial support provider for OpenJDK, according to the recent JVM Ecosystem Report1. It leads multiple OpenJDK projects and is a highly regarded contributor in the OpenJDK and Java communities. Enterprises rely on Azul and its Azul Platform Core and Prime OpenJDK offerings to power the most demanding Java workloads around the globe.

“We are excited about the availability of Eclipse Temurin as part of the Eclipse Adoptium project, and we’re happy to see vendors such as Azul step up and offer commercial support services for the Temurin distribution,” said Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director at Eclipse Foundation. “As a vendor-neutral organization, we recognize it takes a community of vendors to provide Temurin users with support options to meet their Java production needs when they deploy OpenJDK distributions across desktop, clouds and hybrid infrastructures.”

Eclipse Temurin is a free OpenJDK distribution produced as part of the multi-vendor Eclipse Adoptium Project and Working Group, of which Azul is a founding member. For enterprises and organizations that have corporate governances, regulatory requirements, or need dependable commercial support services for sustaining ongoing and critical business operations, the Azul Platform Core offering now provides commercial support for Eclipse Temurin users including:
