Project Lead The Way Celebrates Exemplary PLTW Programs with Distinguished District and School Awards

More than 700 schools and 19 districts receive top honors for their commitment to student access and engagement

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Project Lead The Way (PLTW) announced today the 2020-21 Distinguished Districts and Schools that have demonstrated their commitment to student engagement and access through hands-on, interdisciplinary STEM-based curriculum.

PLTW’s recognition program is designed to honor districts and schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. The schools and districts recognized are empowering students to thrive in life beyond the classroom and have achieved exemplary results from their PLTW programs.

The PLTW Distinguished District recognition is a one-year designation that emphasizes K-12 student engagement. To receive this designation, a district must have 20 percent or more of the students in each grade, K-12, participate in a PLTW program during the previous school year.

The PLTW Distinguished School recognition is for PLTW Launch (K-5), PLTW Gateway (6-8), and high school programs (9-12), and is based on the number of PLTW curricular offerings available to students, the number of students engaged in PLTW, and student success in their PLTW coursework.

Through PLTW programs, students develop the in-demand knowledge and transportable skills that they will use in an evolving world with any career path they choose. As PLTW students progress through grades PreK-12, they are empowered to engage in problem-solving and process thinking, develop technical knowledge and skills, build communication skills, and explore career opportunities.
