Saint-Gobain North America, Ecomedes Launch Comprehensive Data Portal to Simplify Sustainable Building Materials Data for Today’s Buyers

Portal includes more than 1,000 products within the CertainTeed and SageGlass brands

MALVERN, Pa. & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Saint-Gobain, the world’s largest building materials company, and ecomedes, developer of the leading sustainable building products platform, today announced a partnership to deliver a comprehensive sustainability data portal, saintgobain.ecomedes.com, for Saint-Gobain’s SageGlass and CertainTeed brands.

The portal, which is currently being launched in North American markets with plans to expand to include additional Saint-Gobain brands and markets in 2022, will provide buyers with a comprehensive place to obtain product, performance and sustainability features for more than 1,000 products within the CertainTeed and SageGlass brands. Such information includes all ecolabel certifications, rating system contributions, product identifiers, recycled content and reusability, product images, manufacturing locations, links to easily facilitate purchasing, and other information required by today’s specifiers and buyers.

According to a recent AIA survey, 80 percent of architects want to choose more sustainable materials, but only one in three feels they are able to effectively do so. Additionally, 82 percent of architects rely on manufacturer websites as an information source, but only 59 percent are somewhat or very satisfied with the information on those websites. With the launch of the portal, Saint-Gobain is addressing these known challenges by creating a single, easy-to-navigate resource to facilitate the discovery, analysis, comparison and documentation of CertainTeed and SageGlass products.

“Our commitment to sustainability includes being transparent about the attributes and impacts of our products across their respective lifecycles as we continue on our journey toward being a more sustainable organization and making the world a better home,” said Dennis Wilson, Vice President, Sustainability, Environment, Health and Safety, Saint-Gobain North America. “Our relationship with ecomedes now extends past our seed round investment made in the company last fall through NOVA by Saint-Gobain, our venture arm, to elevating our CertainTeed and SageGlass product sustainability data resources to a new level of transparency and accessibility via the ecomedes portal.”

Ecomedes will apply its extensive technical and domain knowledge to the portal’s design and on-going support, delivering product information shaped to meet the needs of building product specifiers, buyers, distributors and sales and marketing teams. The portal is yet another example of Saint-Gobain’s sustainability leadership. Saint-Gobain North America was awarded with three Manufacturing Leadership Awards in Q3 2020 by the Manufacturing Leadership Council, a division of the National Association of Manufacturers, for its outstanding achievements in both the Sustainability and World-Class Manufacturing categories.

“We are proud to provide tools for Saint-Gobain that support their efforts to simplify sustainability for construction and remodeling customers. All the Saint-Gobain brands are leaders in material innovation as well as data accessibility to the market at large,” said Kathleen Egan, CEO of ecomedes.
