Core Development Group Appoints Colin Yee as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Core Development Group (CDG) recently announced the appointment of Colin Yee to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

CDG is a Toronto-based real estate development company with over $1 billion of real estate under development that acts on behalf of its investors and on its own account by actively sourcing, capitalizing, developing and managing a wide range of real estate projects.

“As the new COO and CFO of Core, Colin brings a unique combination of leadership and hands-on experience across numerous fields including real estate development, operations, investments, tax, IT and deal structuring. His extensive operations experience combined with his passion for social and sustainable innovation makes him a great asset to the team and the ideal candidate to oversee Core’s mission to sustainably source, invest and build community-oriented developments across the real estate sector,” said Corey Hawtin, Founder & CEO of Core Development Group.

“I am excited to be joining the dynamic and diverse team of people at Core, a company at the forefront of innovation and sustainable development in the real estate industry where I look forward to continuing my role in helping their vision flourish in the years to come,” said Colin Yee, COO and CFO of Core Development Group.

Before coming to CDG, Yee was previously the Chief Financial Officer for Forum Equity Partners, a well-established alternative investment manager and private equity firm in Toronto with over $1.3 billion in assets under management, where he was a member of the Executive and Investment Committees and oversaw Forum’s tax, legal, asset management, human resources, accounting and administration. Prior to that, Yee co-founded a publicly-traded development company that acquired the Canadian operations of Sotheby’s International Realty, managed over 5,000 hotel rooms on behalf of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and actively focused on the development and operations of mixed-use hospitality and wellness assets.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), Canada’s largest social innovation community and a non-profit organization whose goal is to support innovators that are building a world that puts people and the planet first. CSI has partnered with Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation and MaRS to understand housing affordability, supporting the goal for every Canadian to have access to affordable housing.

Yee is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary with degrees in Molecular Biology and Accounting.
