RAHWAY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Grignard Pure, LLC today announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the number of states approved under Section 18 Public Health Emergency Exemptions for the use of Grignard Pure™ in certain sites as the only antimicrobial air treatment effective against COVID-19. The additional Emergency Exemptions are approved for Maryland, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Texas, joining Georgia and Tennessee, which were approved on January 14, 2021. All State authorizations can be found here, on the EPA.gov site.
Grignard Pure is the first and only EPA-approved antimicrobial air treatment solution designed to significantly reduce the viral load of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the air, where transmission is most likely. The EPA undertook a thorough review of the product’s health, safety, and efficacy performance, and confirmed Grignard Pure’s effectiveness in killing more than 98% of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
“As the CDC has confirmed, SARS-CoV-2 and its variants spread via airborne transmission. The EPA continues to lead by taking innovative steps to give states, communities and industries new tools to address the continued health risks that we all face,” said Etienne Grignard, co-founder and CEO, Grignard Pure. “With Grignard Pure at work, people can feel more confident as they head back to the office, attend religious services, shop and dine out, attend concerts and shows, and spend time with family and friends.”
Under the terms of these Emergency Exemptions, Grignard Pure is approved for use in the following listed indoor spaces (occupied or unoccupied) when adherence to current public health guidelines (e.g., CDC guidance at www.cdc.gov recommending face masks, social distancing, limited occupancy, and increased ventilation) is impractical or difficult to maintain. Areas of particular concern include breakrooms, locker rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, elevators, eating areas, and food preparation areas within:
- Health care facilities (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, medical offices, dental offices), except the following: resident/in-patient rooms; emergency rooms including waiting areas; operating rooms; and intensive care units;
- Intrastate buses, trains, and subways;
- Food processing (NAICS 311) but not food services (NAICS 722);
And:
- In GA, TN, TX, NV: Indoor spaces within buildings, including government facilities, where people are conducting activity deemed essential by the state and allowed by the state lead agency;
- In PA and MD: Indoor spaces within government facilities where people are conducting activity deemed essential by the state and allowed by the state lead agency.
Since the EPA authorized its Emergency Exemption on January 14, 2021, Georgia has extended its approval to include airports and aviation, trade shows and conventions, houses of worship, film & television and indoor arenas. In Tennessee, plans are underway for a pilot program at a major state university.
Grignard Pure is effective in a wide range of indoor spaces. Recent implementations include: an on-board pilot with the Chattanooga Area Rapid Transit Agency in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and at the historic St. Simons Presbyterian Church on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
