HealthShare Exchange and Audacious Inquiry Extend ENShare Service beyond Member Organizations

Encounter Notification Service Improves Care Coordination and Enables Hospitals to Comply with CMS Notification Requirements

PHILADELPHIA--()--HealthShare Exchange (HSX), an industry leader in electronic patient-care information for the greater Philadelphia healthcare community, and Audacious Inquiry, a national industry-shaping health IT company, today announced the extension of ENShare, a service that delivers encounter notifications to subscribing organizations within and outside of the HSX network. Powered by Audacious Inquiry’s Encounter Notification Service® (ENS®), ENShare will now alert subscribing provider participants about their patients’ admission, discharge, and/or transfer from HSX member emergency departments, hospitals, and post-acute care facilities to organizations outside of the HSX network for seamless continuity of patient care.

ENShare enables hospitals to push notifications to downstream providers listed by patients as part of their care team, allowing for timely follow-up and empowering providers to reconnect with patients who have not been seen recently. The expansion of the ENShare service supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) recent Conditions of Participation (CoP) Electronic Notifications Rule, which requires all Medicare and Medicaid-certified hospitals to send electronic notifications to community providers when any of their patients are admitted, transferred or discharged.

“The ability to securely share information between providers in real time is critical to delivering the highest quality healthcare to patients — not only within our region, but across the country,” said Martin Lupinetti, President & Chief Executive Officer of HealthShare Exchange. “To date, more than 30 hospitals have signed on to use HSX’s ENShare service, demonstrating their compliance with federal regulations as well as their commitment to their past, current and future patients.”

In addition to pushing notifications to providers, hospitals can leverage ENShare to demonstrate compliance with the CMS CoP Electronic Notifications Rule by generating a report that outlines critical metrics such as the percentage of alerts generated for encounters.

“Audacious Inquiry’s Encounter Notification Service is used by thousands of health plans and physicians to coordinate care for more than 70 million lives. We are proud to power the ENShare solution to further facilitate improved care coordination and outcomes across the healthcare system in Pennsylvania. ENS provides physicians with the critical information they need to support clinical decisions for patients during the most important moments, including transitions of care,” said Scott Afzal, President of Audacious Inquiry. “The CMS CoP requirement highlights how both patients and providers benefit from more connected care.”
