Panini Joins the FIDO Alliance

TORINO, Italy & DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Panini, a global payments technology provider, is pleased to announce they have joined the FIDO Alliance, the industry association focused on reducing the world’s over-reliance on passwords with the development of, use of, and compliance with standards for authentication.

The FIDO Alliance is working to change the nature of authentication with open standards that are more secure than passwords, simpler for consumers to use, and easier for service providers to deploy and manage. The Alliance is driven by the hundreds of global tech leaders across enterprise, payments, telecom, government and healthcare that have come together in support of developing technical specifications that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms for more reliable and convenient methods to authenticate users.

FIDO compliant solutions use a combination of biometric verification and device authentication with asymmetric cryptography. Panini’s Innovation team is currently testing their patent-pending biometric authentication system with the goal of aligning with standards for FIDO compliance.
