Lieutenant General (Retired) Ed Cardon Joins C3 AI as Chair of Federal Systems

Lieutenant General brings extensive experience leading U.S. Defense and Intelligence

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--C3 AI (NYSE:AI), a leading enterprise AI software provider, today announced that Lieutenant General (Retired) Ed Cardon has joined C3 AI as the Chair of C3 AI Federal Systems. General Cardon will provide leadership to C3 AI’s Federal Systems group on critical national priorities, including the widespread adoption of AI in defense and intelligence systems, cyber defense, and ethical AI.

General Cardon served in the United States Army for more than 36 years, during which he commanded troops in the United States, Europe, Iraq, and the Republic of Korea. As Commanding General of the Army Cyber Command from 2013 to 2016, General Cardon was tasked with the protection of all Army networks, systems, and data, as well as conducting cyberspace operations around the world. During his tenure General Cardon transformed the command into a world-class cyber force, creating two separate operational headquarters and growing the number of cyber mission teams from 2 to 41. He also created and led Task Force ARES that focused on offensive cyberspace operations against ISIS.

In 2016 General Cardon became the Director of the U.S. Army Office of Business Transformation, where he led the task force that created the Army Futures Command, which is responsible for the modernization of the U.S. Army. Since his retirement from the U.S. Army in 2018, General Cardon has worked in industry, academia, and served as an advisor to the U.S. government.
