Ben Crump Joins Paul Napoli, Napoli Shkolnik PLLC in Support of Bone Lead Testing Program for Flint Water Crisis Victims

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Napoli Shkolnik PLLC, as co-liaison and negotiating counsel in the Flint Water Litigation, is pleased to announce Ben Crump’s continued support of the bone lead testing program in Flint, Michigan.

The Flint Water Crisis devastated the community for six years after the City of Flint switched to a new water source as a money-saving measure. Officials failed to treat the water to avoid lead in the pipes from contaminating the water and families were exposed to dangerous levels of lead. Lead exposure is especially detrimental to children, potentially resulting in many serious health conditions, including neurological and developmental delays.

After extensive research, our firms discovered Harvard PhD and New York University (NYU) pediatricians who have dedicated their lives to childhood lead exposure and its health effects. These experts identified the portable XRF machine to detect lead deposits in bone for the purpose of uncovering the true nature of the community lead exposure. This method provides an accurate measurement of lead concentration compared to blood tests, since lead dissipates from the body very soon after exposure.

The XRF machine has been used for decades to determine bone lead levels in children and adults. Peer reviewed research and tests have shown that the XRF scan process is safe for humans, including pregnant women and children. There is a far higher dose of radiation from dental x-rays, MRIs, and airport metal detectors than from an XRF scan. The test can also be used at trial. A safe, reliable lead testing program is an asset to the health of the Flint community.

“That’s why we are making bone lead testing available six days a week for our claimants,” Napoli said. “We want to do whatever we can to help them overcome any and all barriers and get full justice.”

Napoli Shkolnik PLLC, supported by Ben Crump Law, has worked tirelessly litigating this case against the defendants to obtain the families of Flint the compensation they deserve. We believe in the bone lead testing program and its ability to get the victims of the Flint Water Crisis on a path towards fair compensation.
