PeraHealth Appoints Joseph Beals as Chief Executive Officer

PeraHealth promotes its next CEO from within to drive innovation of the Rothman Index

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PeraHealth, Inc., a software company that uses the Rothman Index to transform clinical decision support and improve efficiency in healthcare, today announced that Joseph Beals, PhD, MBA, has been named Chief Executive Officer of the company. An experienced business leader, Joseph Beals assumed CEO responsibilities on May 6th, 2021 and will also join PeraHealth’s Board of Directors.

With over a decade of contributions to PeraHealth, Beals is an accomplished executive who has driven innovation across all aspects of the organization. As one of PeraHealth’s first employees, Beals has been a foundational member of the organization and has a strong understanding and respect for PeraHealth solutions, customers, and team members.

“We are thrilled to have Joe lead our organization as CEO,” said Michael Rothman, Founder of PeraHealth. “His depth of understanding related to our technology and its effective deployment, along with his extensive knowledge of PeraHealth’s operational business practices is second to none. PeraHealth’s staff and I are excited for the energy Joe’s leadership will bring to PeraHealth and expect great things in the years to come.”

Having worked closely with or directed nearly every department at PeraHealth, Beals has led a range of key company initiatives. He has strategically steered the Rothman Index patient surveillance platform to adapt to the needs of front-line clinicians in an increasingly digital healthcare industry, and within the past couple of years he led PeraHealth through the regulatory clearance process of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“PeraHealth exemplifies the translation of data-driven technology solutions into meaningful clinical outcomes,” said Beals. “I’m looking forward to maintaining the tremendous collaborations we have with our customers while also making PeraHealth solutions more widely available to organizations across the country and more deeply embedded as a core tool in the daily workflow of nurses and physicians.”

Recently, as Chief Analytics Officer, Beals was a key member of the executive team navigating PeraHealth through the pandemic, and he led PeraHealth’s multi-health system research initiative related to the application of the Rothman Index for COVID-19 patient risk stratification. Earlier this year, Beals helped secure the recently announced contract awarded by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).

Joseph Beals holds an ScB from Brown University, an MBA from Carleton University, and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he was a National Science Foundation Research Fellow.

About PeraHealth

PeraHealth is a SaaS software company that uses the Rothman Index to transform the clinical and financial efficiency of healthcare. The Rothman Index is the first algorithm that derives a Universal Patient ScoreTM from the vast amount of data in the electronic medical record to create a picture of any patient’s condition over time – any age, any disease, any care setting. It is the only algorithm proven to reduce mortality in practice. Our customers are leading hospitals and clinicians who need to identify patients at risk of rapid decline, make decisions about transfer and discharge, predict the risk of severe infection, and improve the overall efficiency and quality of care.
