Newegg Expands Online Flower Delivery Just in Time for Mother’s Day

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Newegg, one of the leading tech-focused e-retailers in North America, continues to expand its business beyond the company’s core offering of technology products by taking the wraps off its new floral storefront. And while online flower delivery may seem like an unlikely fit for Newegg, the company is poised to disrupt the flower delivery category by flexing its efficiency of scale and ability to leverage preferred shipping rates to offer customers more bang for their floral buck. With a large assortment of fresh flowers under $50 and a number of products offering free delivery, Newegg is the place to shop for Mother’s Day gifts, including perennial favorites like tulips, roses, sunflowers and succulents.

Shopping online for flowers currently gives customers one of two options: either go with a traditional flower delivery provider that’s relatively new to e-commerce, or go with a digitally native floral business that has lots of flash but lacks the infrastructure and reach to deliver value to customers at scale. Newegg excels where both competitive models fall short and promises to give shoppers a robust assortment of the highest-quality floral products, delivered quickly with shipping costs that are tough to beat.

Newegg gives customers an online solution to send Mother’s Day flowers for quick delivery, while maintaining social distancing. With Newegg’s online flower delivery service, users can send popular Mother’s Day gifts and flowers, including pink carnations, calla lilies, red roses or tulips.

“As a mature brand in the e-commerce space, Newegg has the ability to pivot quickly and pursue market segments that are ripe with opportunity, and that’s precisely what we’re doing with our new floral offering,” said Anthony Chow, Newegg’s Global CEO. “We plan to parlay our expertise delivering top-shelf customer experiences into the floral market, giving people a better way to shop for flowers, with all the cost savings and convenience associated with online shopping.”

Newegg began testing online flower delivery earlier in the year, which enabled the company to validate market demand and fine-tune how it promotes floral products to its customers. The company now plans a much broader array of floral products for Mother’s Day, one of the most popular times of year to send flowers to loved ones.

Newegg’s earlier trials were insightful in that they validated demand for floral products within the company’s extensive customer base. Based on this strong customer insight, Newegg is expanding its floral portfolio significantly and fine-tuning how it markets floral offerings to customers shopping on the Newegg platform, as well as people outside the Newegg ecosystem.

Newegg is partnering directly with farms in the United States and South America, sourcing the freshest flowers and plants to ship directly to customers overnight. Shipping farm-direct enables Newegg to keep costs down for its customers, with quick ship times that ensure customers’ orders arrive fresh every time, for days or even weeks of enjoyment.
