Real Estate Organization Recognizes Cherrytree Executive
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The real estate industry organization, Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast, has profiled one of its youngest members in its member publication.
Melina Ambrosino, the 33-year-old executive vice president of tax credit consulting firm Cherrytree Group, recently was elevated to the board of directors of the Northeast Coalition, which promotes best practices in the sustainable redevelopment of brownfield land areas. Brownfield is a real estate industry term for toxic lands from prior activity which require remediation before they may once again serve a public or private purpose.
During her 10 years with the tax credit consulting firm, Ambrosino has developed a specialty in navigating the byzantine paths of brownfield tax credit acquisition for individual and corporate real estate developers and investors. Her firm, in addition to acquiring tax credits for real estate projects, often syndicates these credits for use by individual investors.
Ambrosino started as an administrative assistant with the company, quickly moving up the ranks to become its in-house expert in brownfields tax credits. Over time she became one of Cherrytree’s leaders in new business development before becoming the #2 executive in the organization in April, 2015.

Since its inception in 2011, Cherrytree has obtained and placed over $100 million in state and Federal tax credits. In 2020 the firm secured $20.8 million in credits and the company acquired more Massachusetts brownfields tax credits on behalf of its client developers and investors than all other companies combined.
The Cherrytree Group’s management team, in addition to Ambrosino, includes Warren Kirshenbaum, president, and Jacob Vezga, senior tax credit associate. All three assist developers with tax credit acquisition in the areas of renewable energy, historic preservation, brownfields remediation, and the creation of affordable housing.
