Sigma has released its newest Art lens, the 35mm f/1.4 DG DN, which features a wholly new optical design for full-frame mirrorless cameras

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--B&H is excited to announce the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens, a new wide-angle prime designed for Sony E and L-mount mirrorless cameras. This lens succeeds the former 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens with all-new optical and physical components to suit mirrorless cameras better and joins Sigma’s other 35mm DG DN lenses as the all-around wide-angle option that features a useful mixture of speed and optical quality.

The brand-new optical design includes one FLD element, two SLD elements, and two aspherical elements, which produce well-corrected imagery characterized by a high degree of sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. The other defining aspect of this lens is its bright f/1.4 aperture, which benefits working in low light and offers a wealth of depth-of-field control for isolating subjects. It features a rounded 11-blade diaphragm, too, which further contributes to smooth and circular bokeh.

Physically, the lens is relatively compact and lightweight and employs a stepping motor to deliver quick, quiet, and responsive autofocus performance. In terms of handling, the 35mm f/1.4 has a manual aperture ring that can be de-clicked for smooth, silent operation or locked in the A position for camera-based aperture selection. There is also an AF/MF switch and a programmable AFL button. Additionally, the lens is also weather-sealed to suit working in harsh weather.
