Production Begins on Midwestern Crime Thriller Short Film Featuring Jim Beaver, Dale Soules and Natasha Coppola-Shalom

Liberty Starts Filming in St. Louis, Led by Writer/Director Chris Lawing

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mercury Films, a digital cinema production company, has started production on Liberty, a crime thriller set in the rural Midwest, featuring Jim Beaver (Deadwood, Supernatural), Dale Soules (3-time SAG Award Winner - Orange Is The New Black) and Natasha Coppola-Shalom (Last Call, Extra Innings). Liberty tells the story of a disgraced journalist who flees to a small town to rebuild her life, only to find deadly corruption pursuing her.

“Growing up watching gritty crime dramas of the 70s, it’s only fitting my own writing centers around the realistic world of crime, whether the villains are master manipulators or just desperate souls, whether the crime happens in a crowded city or the plains of western Kansas,” said Liberty writer/director Chris Lawing.

Casting is by Bass/Casting. Sevdije Kastrati (Zana, The Marriage) is Cinematographer. Filming will take place in St. Louis, Missouri and parts of Southern Illinois.
