AttackIQ Academy Earns Silver in Cyber Security Global Excellence Awards®

Educational Community Honored for Its Commitment to Accelerating the Practice of Threat-Informed Defense and Arming Security Practitioners with Current, Practical Cybersecurity Skills

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AttackIQ®, the leading independent vendor of Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) systems, today announced it earned silver in the 17th Annual 2021 Cyber Security Global Excellence Awards’ “Best Cybersecurity Education Provider” category for its AttackIQ Academy. The Globee® Awards, organizers of the world’s premier business awards programs and business ranking lists, recognize cybersecurity and information technology vendors with advanced, ground-breaking products, solutions, and services that are helping set the bar higher for others in all areas of security and technologies.

AttackIQ Academy was launched in April 2020 to offer entry-level and advanced cybersecurity training with a modularized curriculum and hands-on cyberrange labs for realistic exercises. Practice scenarios give students the skills to recognize threats, understand attackers’ methods and quickly close potential gaps. In just 11 months, the Academy has grown from zero to 13,000 students in 160+ countries. Courses and learning paths are offered at no charge for the greater good of the cybersecurity community and are eligible for (ISC)2 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

“With the industry reeling from attacks and a shortage of skilled talent, we launched AttackIQ Academy as a free cybersecurity education resource just as communication, business and personal interactions moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Brett Galloway, CEO of AttackIQ. “Our goal was to help practitioners stay ahead of threats by moving to a “threat-informed defense” approach. It was important to us to offer courses as a public good at no cost, and make them eligible for ISC(2) CPE credits. We are honored to see our commitment to giving back to the cybercommunity and making the world safe for compute recognized with this award.”

More than 45 judges from around the world representing a broad spectrum of industry experts participated in the judging process.

AttackIQ Academy, which is part of the Informed Defender Community, includes foundational, intermediate, and advanced courses in operationalizing MITRE ATT&CK®, Uniting Threat and Risk Management with NIST 800-53 and ATT&CK, Purple Teaming, Breach and Attack Simulation, and more.
