The Leverage Network Joins the Equilar Diversity Network to Make Healthcare Boards, C-Suite More Diverse

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--()--Equilar is proud to announce that The Leverage Network (TLN), a non-profit organization dedicated solely to promoting the advancement of Black executives on boards and in senior leadership roles in all sectors of the healthcare industry, has joined the Equilar Diversity Network (EDN) as its newest partner organization.

The Equilar Diversity Network continues to expand its coverage and focus on building the largest database of ethnically diverse executive and board candidates to make it even easier for companies to connect with top minority candidates. The Leverage Network is dedicated to advancing opportunities for Black executives in the C-Suite and boardrooms at healthcare companies in the U.S. through a series of professional development and readiness programs.

According to TLN research, Black representation on boards at leading healthcare companies across four sectors is 9%. The partnership with Equilar will amplify TLN’s mission to prepare its members and bring visibility to highly qualified minority board candidates. Research has shown a correlation between healthcare provider diversity and improving health equity and health disparities in communities of color. Diverse boards bring a greater awareness of racial inequities in access to quality care, better housing, transportation and nutrition. Those disparities have grown more acute and much more public as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m extremely excited about this partnership opportunity with Equilar. This relationship helps to table the old adage that Black excellence is hard to find,” said Antoinette Hardy-Waller, TLN’s founder and CEO. “Our vision for The Leverage Network is to be the premier one-stop shop for Black senior-level talent in healthcare.”

“We look forward to partnering with The Leverage Network to amplify its efforts to drive boardroom diversity at today’s leading healthcare companies. There has never been a more critical time to take a hard look at diversity and inclusion efforts at all levels of the healthcare industry,” said David Chun, founder and CEO of Equilar. “We’re proud to provide our partners with an innovative platform to support a community of diverse board candidates where thousands of members from under-represented groups have already joined corporate boards across all industries.”

About the Equilar Diversity Network

Launched in September 2016 to advance diverse representation in boardrooms across the globe, EDN now consists of more than 40 partner organizations and nearly 170,000 diverse board candidates, supplementing nearly one million candidate profiles already in the Equilar BoardEdge database. EDN is a consortium of leading diversity-focused organizations consolidating robust registries of board-ready executives into one searchable database. Since the Network was founded, more than 2,000 members across EDN partner organizations have been appointed to corporate boards.
