Suffolk Hires Iraj Ghaemi as VP, National Transportation in West Region

Innovative real estate enterprise and builder hires seasoned executive with experience managing sophisticated aviation projects and policy planning to expand its presence in the sector

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Suffolk, one of the most innovative and successful real estate and construction enterprises in the country, has announced it hired Iraj Ghaemi as Vice President, National Transportation in the West Region to expand the firm's expertise in the transportation sector nationally and specifically in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. In his new role, Mr. Ghaemi will be responsible for driving business development, leading growth strategies, transportation project oversight, and client relationship management in the transportation sector.

"We're thrilled to welcome Mr. Ghaemi to the Suffolk team as we continue to diversify our portfolio into new sectors in the west region," said Sam Sleiman, Executive Vice President, National Transportation at Suffolk. "As the transportation sector continues to navigate the impact of the pandemic, we believe it is vital for builders to have a profound understanding of client needs and the necessary experience to guide them through the construction process. With the addition of Mr. Ghaemi to our team, Suffolk is well-positioned to be a major player in the transportation sector on the west coast and nationally."

Mr. Ghaemi has 40 years of experience in transportation and aviation construction and policy enactment. Before joining Suffolk, Mr. Ghaemi served as Vice President, Aviation Sector Manager at SNC-Lavalin, where he directed and oversaw the firm's assignments, activities, and resources. Prior to his tenure at SNC-Lavalin, Mr. Ghaemi spent 21 years at the San Diego Regional Airport Authority, where he was the Director of Facilities Development and oversaw the planning and implementation of the Capital Improvement Program, managed workforce planning, funding allocation, contractor interaction, job scheduling, and quality controls. He also oversaw the Centralized Receiving and Distribution Center (CRDC) planning and implementation of the first Public-Private Partnership (P3) project at the San Diego Regional Airport Authority.
