With only 58% of Americans visiting the dentist at least once a year, Dr. Yakob will play a crucial role in quip expanding beyond its personal care offerings into helping members also improve their dental care by connecting them with quip’s growing network of dental providers and partners. In building this platform, piloted under the name quipcare in 2019, quip also aims to help providers better engage with and assist patients through a 360 degree suite of personal and professional care services.
A dental hygienist by profession, Dr. Yakob earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medical Science researching the association between oral and systemic diseases from Karolinska Institute (Sweden). As a postdoctoral researcher at UCLA, she further contributed to advance the field of salivary diagnostics and biomarker discovery for oral cancer detection. She is a former member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and previously served as the Global Director of Professional Relations & Scientific Affairs at Philips Sonicare.
