The Standard Promotes Liz Fouts to Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) has promoted Liz Fouts to vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. In her new role, Fouts will be responsible for the Legal and Compliance department at The Standard as well as operating as the StanCorp Financial Group, Inc., corporate secretary.

Fouts brings more than 20 years of legal experience to her role. Since joining The Standard in 2008, Fouts has held several legal positions including advising on employment and privacy matters as an attorney in the Corporate Legal Department, handling insurance litigation for the Insurance Services Group Legal Department and managing legal and compliance for Retirement Plans and Individual Annuities. In 2019, she was promoted to assistant vice president and associate counsel for Legal and Compliance.

Prior to joining The Standard, Fouts was in-house counsel for ALL Student Loan, a nonprofit student lender. She began her legal career practicing as a litigator and business attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fouts earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University Sacramento and a Juris Doctor degree from University of San Francisco School of Law.
