Current Adds New LED HID Replacement Lamps for Hazardous Locations

CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Current, a Daintree company is adding to its popular Type B LED HID replacement product portfolio with a new range of hazardous location lamps.

The hazardous-rated LED replacements not only offer 2.5 times longer life versus a standard HID lamp, but are also designed for those rugged environments where most traditional lamps just won’t cut it.

Why move LED lamps into the hazardous space? Current has had hazardous rated fixtures for some time and, while popular, they aren’t the answer to every industrial lighting solution. The hazardous LED lamp allows Current to bring the same reliable and long-lasting HID replacement lamps into existing HID fixtures while not compromising on fit.

Notably, these new HID replacement lamps were developed using an industry-leading ANSI design and even come with a E39 socket adapter for mogul base installation. This added feature eliminates the need to stock multiple lamp base types and consolidates SKUs.

Current is UL qualified in the most popular fixtures, which are categorized as Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D rated. This includes fixtures like: GE Filtr-Gard™, Crouse-Hinds Champ®VMV, Appleton™ Mercmaster™ II Series, and Appleton™ Mercmaster™ III Series. Locations where gases or vapors are or may be present in the air and environments that are not normally hazardous are what fall under this classification.

The new HID replacement lamps were developed to fit into harsh environments such as drilling rigs, petrochemical facilities, and food and beverage facilities, as well as other heavy-industry areas. Current’s focus in designing these lamps was to limit replacements, deliver reliability and fit the existing ANSI profile.

The hazardous lamp portfolio is offered in 21-, 35- and 45-watt configurations and comes in 3000K, 4000K or 5000K color temperatures. All lamps are offered in the ED17 ANSI size and will soon be available in additional sizes.
