HOUSTON--()--To demonstrate their ideology that "You Get Out What You Put In®," Kendall® Motor Oil commissioned Denver-based Thompson Street Customs to design and build a 1967 Mustang GT 500 restomod unlike any machine on the road. With a Twin Garrett Turbocharged 5.0 Liter Ford Coyote engine, adorned in Kendall-red exterior paint and custom-red stitched black leather and gray suede interior, The Kendall Custom is a powerful work of art, both visually and mechanically.

The Mustang restomod brings together the perfect mix of what classic muscle car collectors adore with the modern updates they come to expect—digital gauges with RGB lighting, Bluetooth and a blow-your-hair back Kenwood sound system with LED lighting. This car has classic looks with a high-tech, power-planned suspension platform, including a Roadster Shop Fast Track Chassis, Dynacorn body and 9" Ford housing rear end by Strange Engineering.

"Kendall puts all this technology and advancements into their motor oil, and that's what we wanted to do—put as much customization and modern technology into the car as possible," said Robert "Cope" Thompson Jr., lead designer at Thompson Street Customs. "We kept this car as classy as possible but still made it look like it's going 100 miles per hour while it's sitting still."

The car is built with exceptional quality parts from bumper to bumper, the latest in modern technology and its engine runs on Kendall GT-1® Max 5W-20 to deliver maximum performance.

"Over the last couple of years, we've worked hard to turn this vision into beauty, precision, and power," said Director of Brand Management at Phillips 66® Lubricants Julie Wright. "It's been incredible to collaborate with industry leaders and bring our restomod to life. This car is guaranteed to turn some heads, and we can't wait to take the car on the road at Mecum Auctions around the country."

"Restomods have become a significant part of the collector world in recent years," said Director of Corporate Relations for Mecum Auctions John Kraman. "Two important factors that really separate driver quality vs. showstoppers are leading-edge components, along with extreme build quality. The Kendall Custom sets a new bar for a state-of-the-art restomod with the best updates available, along with simply incredible attention to design, detail and craftsmanship. It will certainly be the center of attention wherever it is displayed."

Kendall will unveil The Kendall Custom at the Mecum Indy Fall Special 2020 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Oct. 30, 2020. The unveiling will be included in the Mecum Auctions' programming on NBC Sports Network to air on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. EDT. See The Kendall Custom on display at Mecum Auctions through 2021.
