Harvest 2020 update

Chapel Down is pleased to announce the completion of the 2020 harvest, where yields were ahead of expectations and the fruit was of the highest quality.

Frazer Thompson, CEO of Chapel Down Group commented

This year’s harvest has been exceptional yet again. The yields were above expectations with fruit quality perhaps even better than the extraordinary 2018 harvest. With demand for our wines continuing to grow despite the current pandemic, this harvest is welcome news and enables us to not only put sparkling base wines aside for future growth but also release more wine for sale next year. Some of the finest fruit and best yields were from our newest owned vineyards on the North Downs. Overall this was the company’s third highest ever vintage. Once again, the best fruit and the highest yields were from Kent.

It’s testament to the outstanding team we have developed that we have been able to maintain very high quality fruit and excellent yields. This fruit is in turn being made into truly World Class wines by our winemaking team who have picked up not only four trophies at this year’s Wine GB awards but also two platinum and two gold medals at Decanter World Wine Awards 2020.

This is further evidence of the genesis of a dynamic new premium wine-growing region. We are very excited about the future.”
