Fuze Enhances Communications & Collaboration Experience with New Patent for Detecting User Presence

Patent aggregates user activity across multiple devices to provide a more accurate indication of user presence, driving more efficient communications across teams

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuze, the leading cloud-based communications provider for the modern global enterprise, today announced that it has been awarded a new patent for a unified user presence detection system, enabling Fuze users to efficiently determine the availability of other users for more effective communications and collaboration.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued Fuze U.S. Patent No. 10645088B1 on May 5, 2020. The invention provides a method for intelligently determining the availability status of a user by aggregating that user's activity across multiple devices. This method leads to a more accurate projection of user status, improving user expectations.

“Increasingly distributed teams must be able to rely on communications and collaboration tools that provide an accurate indication of their colleagues’ status. This is especially critical today as more individuals are working remotely across different time zones and cannot rely upon in-person cues,” said Rob Scudiere, president and chief operating officer at Fuze. “This patent provides a method that ensures workers are receiving an accurate representation of their colleagues’ availability regardless of what device they are working from, helping streamline workflows and improve overall productivity.”
