Alexander Rodriguez Joins Voya Investment Management’s Securitized Credit Team as Senior Vice President

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Voya Investment Management, the asset management business of Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that it has expanded its Securitized Credit team with the hire of Alexander Rodriguez as senior vice president. Rodriguez is based in Atlanta and reports to John Edwards, senior portfolio manager.

In this new position, Rodriguez will focus on Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS). Specifically, he will invest in commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) across Voya Investment Management’s various investment products and strategies.

“With over 20 years of experience, spanning a wide range of commercial real estate finance roles, Alex is a great addition to our team and builds upon our already robust infrastructure,” said David Goodson, managing director, head of Securitized Investments.

Prior to Voya, Rodriguez most recently spent four years at Regions Bank in Atlanta as the primary senior credit risk manager for all Real Estate Capital Markets operations including agency and asset-backed securitization originations. Prior to Regions Bank, he spent eleven years at LNR Property LLC (now Starwood Property Trust, Inc., “SPT”) in various roles, including: CMBS B-piece acquisitions, CMBS special servicing, and bridge loan credit and underwriting. A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Alex began his career as General Counsel for a hotel franchisor and holds degrees from the University of Michigan (B.A.), Emory University of Law (J.D.) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.B.A.).
