Additive Flight Solutions awarded AS9100D Certification

AFS has been accredited for meeting the International Quality Management System standard for aviation, space and defense organizations

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Additive Flight Solutions (AFS), a joint venture between Stratasys Ltd. and SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC)1 has received the AS9100D Certification and is now registered by International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), the global body that governs quality management within the worldwide supply chain of the aerospace industry. By utilizing Stratasys’ deep knowhow and expertise in additive manufacturing, coupled with the comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) at SIAEC, AFS accelerates the adoption of 3D printed parts for commercial aviation, military aviation as well as other industrial applications.2

The AS9100D certification is a standardized quality management and assurance system governing the aviation, space and defense industry sectors.3 This certification helps manufacturing suppliers such as AFS provide products and services that meet customer needs while complying with all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. As the standard, MRO approved additive manufacturing center for SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC), AFS supplies industry grade parts and services used in interior airplane cabins to local and global manufacturers. The 3D printed parts are mainly used as replacements parts in the interior cabin environment. A recent example being sanitizer holders provided to a local airline which were developed and produced with the help of the company. Manufacturers will be able to partner with AFS owing to the confidence that stringent requirements across industry applications are being met.4

Sharing his thoughts, Stefan Roeding, DGM, Additive Flight Solutions says, “From individual part weight reduction to a more comfortable layout and design, the future of aircraft interiors is set to take off in innovative ways. Apart from being a competitive advantage, achieving the AS9100D is a significant milestone for AFS and our parent companies. This certification validates our commitment to drive the development of aerospace applications and deliver reliable and precisely engineered solutions. It gives us immense pride in attaining this globally recognized mark of excellence.”
