DreamBox Learning® Selected by Texas Education Agency for Math Innovation Zone Grant Program

As an approved TEA vendor for blended learning, DreamBox delivers personalized math curricula and K-5 STAAR predictions without any additional testing

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DreamBox Learning®, the K-8 digital math company that pioneered Intelligent Adaptive Learning™ technology, announced today that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has selected DreamBox as an approved online curriculum for Math Innovation Zones (MIZ), part of the broader statewide Blended Learning Grant Program.

MIZ is a four-year process to design, launch, and scale a high-quality blended learning program to ultimately meet the unique needs of the 5.4 million students across the state of Texas. As an approved vendor, DreamBox will provide digital math curriculum aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) that adapts in real time to student learning both within and between math lessons. Available in both English and Spanish, DreamBox’s Intelligent Adaptive Learning technology analyzes not only students’ answers, but also their solution strategies in order to offer each student the right lessons at the right time. Educators can access reports that provide continuous insights into TEKS growth as well as predictions of STAAR proficiency without losing instructional time for testing.

“We’re excited for this opportunity to support even more districts in Texas though the MIZ program. Both TEA and DreamBox share a commitment to supporting all students and educators through blended learning models so that we’re strategically leveraging technology to empower and enrich student thinking,” said Tim Hudson, PhD, Chief Learning Officer of DreamBox Learning. “During these uncertain times, educators need reliable technology tools that help their students understand and enjoy math while also providing data insights for differentiation.”

DreamBox currently serves more than 120 school districts in Texas including Austin Independent School District (ISD). A partner with DreamBox Learning since 2013, Austin ISD serves more than 80,000 students in grades K-8. “Now more than ever, digital learning tools are critical to each and every student's learning experience,” said Danielle Perico, STEM Assistant Director at Austin ISD. “DreamBox provides students with the necessary tools to support their learning of mathematical concepts through engaging personalized lessons that are appropriate for each student's learning needs.”

DreamBox Introduces New Features to Help Educators and Parents Measure Student Growth

With state tests canceled due to COVID-19, DreamBox is the only elementary digital math program that can predict how students would have performed on STAAR tests without the need for additional testing. Through its newly released capability, DreamBox Predictive Insights, district administrators and educators have insights into where students are in their learning within just a few weeks of using DreamBox. DreamBox has also introduced new features to support educators, including advanced reporting at the student, classroom, school, and district level, tools to create student assignments aligned to district-specific curriculum or assessment resources, and professional development content.

Parents of students with school accounts can also get access to DreamBox’s Parent Dashboard so they are able to view reports and data about their child’s DreamBox use, learning growth, and achievement milestones. This shared view of data between educators and parents promotes more parent engagement in their child’s learning, as well as more informed discussions and closer connections between home and school.

DreamBox continues to introduce new features and capabilities to provide a proven-effective, personalized learning experience serving the unique needs of all students and learning guardians. Independent research conducted by Harvard University’s Center for Education Policy Research found students improve their math scores by nearly 60% more than expected growth norms on benchmark and state tests by using DreamBox for just one hour a week.
