BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New data released today from Opensignal, a leader in measuring consumer mobile experiences, ranks the T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) 5G network first for 5G availability in its USA 5G User Experience Report, meaning Un-carrier customers get a 5G signal more often than customers on any other network. More than twice as often as AT&T and 56 times more often than Verizon. And following the merger of T-Mobile and Sprint, all Sprint 5G customers now have access to T-Mobile’s nationwide 5G, so they also benefit from the most available 5G network.
"Building the fastest 5G network is easy if you only cover less than 50 square miles. It's like a race car without roads. Sure it's fast, but you can't go anywhere,” said Neville Ray, President of Technology at T-Mobile. “Opensignal's report shows that only T-Mobile is doing the hard work to deliver BOTH 5G coverage and speed. And we’re just getting started. With the addition of Sprint, the Un-carrier’s 5G is getting bigger, better and faster every day, moving quickly on our mission to build the world’s best 5G network, one unlike any other, to people all across the country!"
T-Mobile is rapidly deploying 5G with critical mid-band 2.5 GHz spectrum from Sprint, adding depth to its broad nationwide 5G network, increasing capacity and boosting speeds for customers. Customers are already seeing average download speeds around 330 Mbps on T-Mobile’s mid-band 5G. 2.5 GHz 5G is live today in parts of Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia and customers will continue to see speed boosts as more sites light up across the country.
The Opensignal report notes, “The time connected to a 5G service is extremely important if users are to enjoy all of 5G’s benefits.” In fact, if 5G were a day, Verizon customers would be able to get a signal and experience those benefits for less than 6 minutes. And since Opensignal found that Un-carrier customers spend the most time connected to 5G, that means T-Mobile customers experience 5G’s benefits, including 5G download speeds, more often.
On average, T-Mobile’s 5G network is 1.5 times faster than its current LTE speeds. T-Mobile has the largest 5G network and offers 5G coverage in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Un-carrier customers get 5G coverage in nearly 6,000 cities and towns, covering more than 225 million people across over 1 million square miles. In fact, T-Mobile’s 5G network is 28,000 times larger than Verizon’s. T-Mobile’s unique combination of low-, mid- and high-band spectrum makes T-Mobile the only wireless provider with resources to create a truly transformative network capable of driving innovation across the country and providing people in cities and rural areas with a 5G network the other guys can’t match.
