Hodes Weill Appoints Ross Smotrich to Advisory Board

Veteran real estate finance executive most recently served as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Analyst at Barclays

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hodes Weill & Associates (Hodes Weill), a global real estate advisory firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ross Smotrich as an Advisory Board Member.

Mr. Smotrich most recently served as a Managing Director and Senior Equity Analyst at Barclays, where he led the research team responsible for covering the real estate investment trust (REIT) and real estate securities industries. Prior to joining Barclays, Mr. Smotrich led the REIT research business at Bear Stearns, moving his team to Lehman Brothers in 2008, shortly before its acquisition by Barclays.

Mr. Smotrich began his real estate career at Chemical Bank, where he worked in lending and investment banking, and ran a workout/restructuring team. Following Chemical Bank, he transitioned into sell-side research as a senior equity analyst at Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Smotrich is an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School and serves on its MBA Real Estate Advisory Board. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (Multifamily Council), NAREIT (Real Estate Investment Advisory Council), Columbia’s Real Estate Circle and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude in history and economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and he holds an MBA in finance and real estate from Columbia University.
