Owens Corning Earns No. 1 Ranking on 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for Second Year in a Row

TOLEDO, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Owens Corning (NYSE: OC) ranked No. 1 on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens list for 2020. The company was also No. 1 in 2019, and is one of a small number of companies that have earned the honor twice. This is the sixth consecutive year Owens Corning has been named to the list.

“We are honored to earn the top spot again this year on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens list,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian Chambers. “Our people and our products make the world a better place, and this distinction recognizes the work our 19,000 employees do every day to bring our purpose to life.”

The annual list recognizes the standout global environmental, social and governance (ESG) performances of the largest U.S.-based public companies. The companies are ranked based on a blend of performance and disclosure.

Ava Harter, General Counsel, added, “Being ranked at the top of this list for a second consecutive year is evidence of our continuing commitment to integrate high ESG standards into all that we do. These standards are increasingly important to our global stakeholders and help us have an even greater impact as we continue on our journey. This recognition helps us know we’re on the right path.”

The 2020 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking is based on 141 factors in eight pillars: climate change, employee relations, environment, finance, governance, human rights, ESG performance, and stakeholders and society. The list ranks companies in the Russell 1000 Index based upon research by ISS-ESG, the responsible investment research arm of Institutional Shareholder Services. Information for the ranking is compiled exclusively from publicly available resources and companies do not pay for the assessment.

“Integrating sustainability and ESG with business strategy and execution makes us a better company – and we are committed to transparency in sharing our sustainability goals and results. It’s critical that we keep stretching ourselves, beyond what we thought possible, to broaden and deepen the impact of our work. There’s so much more to do, and we look forward to collaborating with all our stakeholders in creating a more sustainable world,” said Frank O’Brien-Bernini, Chief Sustainability Officer.

Details about how Owens Corning operates, as well as its sustainability commitments and progress, can be found in the company’s 2019 Sustainability Report, which was released in April 2020.
