NEW YORK & COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ELOQUII, the retail destination for sizes 14-28 that seeks to inspire positive change through the transformative power of fashion, today announces its partnership with Ruling Our eXperiences, an emerging national leader in programming, research, and education focused on girls. In collaboration, ELOQUII is granting Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) $25,000 to enable more girls to participate in the program by increasing its work in New York City area schools. ELOQUII, headquartered in both the New York City area and Columbus, Ohio, is excited to work with Columbus-based ROX and give back to the communities in which ELOQUII operates. This program will help girls build confidence, gain acceptance and support, develop critical life skills and plan for a successful and rewarding future.
According to “The Girls' Index: New Insights into the Complex World of Today's Girls,” the largest research study around the national conversation on the thoughts, ideas, and aspirations of young girls, ROX found that girls’ confidence declines sharply from 5th to 9th grade and does not return to their pre-middle school levels. One in three girls with a grade point average above 4.0 do not think they are smart enough for their dream career. Furthermore, nearly half of girls are afraid to speak their mind or disagree with others because they want to be liked, and 80 percent of high school girls report that guys their age are not respectful of girls.
ELOQUII’s strategic grant will be employed for the following.
- Expanding ROX’s work in the New York City area, the organization will be able to train and certify 10 New York City area female school counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and teachers to implement the ROX Program for Girls at their schools.
- ELOQUII will fund the ability for 220 girls in grades 5 through 12, in the New York and Columbus areas, to participate in 20 weeks of the ROX Program for Girls during the 2020-21 school year.
- Participants will be asked to complete pre- and post-program assessments to garner feedback. Questions are designed to gain a deeper understanding of changes in behavior and attitude that ROX girls experience to continuously work to improve the program for future participants.

ROX’s curriculum content is data-driven, skill-based, and designed to help girls acquire new behaviors and competencies that they need to be successful. Those who have completed the program have reported higher levels of self-esteem; healthier communication and program solving skills; a changed perception of their self-worth, career goals and leadership capacity; and an ability to develop effective peer and adult support systems.
