IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Novus Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: NVUS), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing products for patients with disorders of the ear, nose, and throat, today announced that it has completed enrollment of the phase 2a trial of OP0201 in pediatric patients with acute otitis media (study C-006). The company enrolled a total of 103 patients into the clinical trial and expects to report data by early June 2020.
“Completion of enrollment for this first OP0201 efficacy clinical trial marks a major milestone for our company,” said Dr. Catherine Turkel, President of Novus Therapeutics. “We look forward to sharing the results of study C-006 in the coming months. Millions of children are affected by otitis media every year and OP0201 could someday play an important role in the treatment of this condition,” concluded Dr. Turkel.
The clinical trial is designed to detect a 25% difference between treatment groups in at least one of the two primary efficacy endpoints, assuming 40% of placebo-treated patients have no bulging tympanic membrane at the visit that occurs between days 4-6 (visit 2) and 30% of placebo-treated patients have no middle ear effusion at the visit that occurs between days 12-14 (visit 3).

Patients are treated for 10 days and followed for up to 20 additional days after treatment is completed (clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT03818815).
