AM Best: Leadership Critical to Drive Innovation (AM BestTV)

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In this episode of AMBestTV, at the Emerging Leaders Conference in Austin, TX, Matthew C. Mosher, president and CEO of AM Best Rating Services, said leaders must ensure that their employees share the same vision. AM Best is a co-host of the annual Emerging Leaders Conference, which recognizes high-performing individuals and provides professional training to develop the next generation of insurance industry leaders.

“It really is important to a company’s culture to ensure that everybody is working toward the same mission and innovation is a large part of that,” said Mosher. “The leadership has to be committed to innovation and they have to adjust the culture. Leadership may want to change, but they need to make sure they instill that in their employees as well.”

AM Best expects to formally integrate its new criteria procedure, “Scoring and Assessing Innovation,” into its rating process in the near future. The criteria outlines how AM Best explicitly will consider an insurance company’s innovation efforts. “AM Best sees that the industry still has a long way to go, but there is clearly a lot of momentum and the industry does acknowledge that it needs to continue to improve in order to service its customers,” said Mosher.

AM Best hosts the Emerging Leaders Conference jointly with the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) and the Insurance Careers Movement. The event is part of the industry’s efforts to support the development of new and talented insurance industry professionals, and it provides accelerated professional development by C-suite executives, health and wellness strategies for high performers and networking in a vibrant environment. AM Best is actively participating in the movement to address the industry’s critical talent gap issue.
