DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Naturally Slim®, a digital health company focused on metabolic syndrome (MetS) reversal, diabetes prevention and weight management, today announced it has appointed Emily Buxton Taylor chief financial officer (CFO).
“We’re very fortunate to have Emily as our CFO as we continue to pursue our vision of expanding our clinical behavioral weight loss program into a holistic well-being ecosystem that will measurably improve the lives of our employer and health plan clients,” said Rob Butler, CEO, Naturally Slim. “Emily brings a breadth and depth of experience in these respective functions which will be instrumental in supporting our vision and driving continued growth in the employer-sponsored healthcare market.”
Taylor has more than 20 years of finance experience with a concentration in healthcare and technology for both private equity-owned and publicly traded companies. Prior to joining Naturally Slim, Taylor served as chief financial officer of Paradigm Tax, a property tax consulting firm focused on leveraging technology to maximize customer satisfaction. Previously, she held numerous financial positions including chief financial officer at National HME, chief accounting officer at Northstar Anesthesia, and chief financial officer at Orthofix Medical, Inc. She is a certified public accountant, an active member of Financial Executives International (FEI) and National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and is a NACD Governance fellow. She serves as a committee member of the Private Equity Company Special Interest Group of the Dallas Chapter of FEI.
“I believe there is great potential for women to become larger players in the digital health space. I have found in my own career that leveraging my passion for technology to improve lives and decrease the overall spend of healthcare is an incredibly fulfilling career. While the digital health and financial industries have historically been viewed as male dominant, I have found my unique point-of-view and talents as a female in this industry have allowed me to flourish. As a result, Naturally Slim was the ideal company for me. I’m excited to be a part of the team and I look forward to contributing to its overall success,” said Taylor.
According to a study by S&P Global Market Intelligence, men outnumber women in the CFO job by approximately 6.5 to 1. However, female CFOs were found to increase profits by six percent more than their male peers within the first year of beginning the role. Women have also been found to be more proactive than men when it comes to using digital healthcare to make healthcare decisions.
“It makes sense that adding more women to the digital health workforce in leadership positions is good for business. Emily is the first female CFO I have worked with and she is absolutely the best. Her perspective and experience are invaluable and strengthen our Naturally Slim team tremendously. We are proud to stand behind gender parity in digital health and believe it is essential to our business prosperity and growth,” added Butler.
