Publix Associates and USA Patriots Play Charity Softball Game to Inspire Those Living with Limb Loss

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Publix associates will go head-to-head against the USA Patriots, America’s Amputee Softball Team, in a charity game on Jan. 18 at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium to inspire others and educate communities about those impacted by amputation.

For more than a decade, the USA Patriots have enhanced the health and welfare of wounded warrior amputees by offering them a place for camaraderie and healing. Throughout the year, the team travels the country playing able-bodied teams in competitive and exhibition softball games, bringing their unique brand of softball, courage and perseverance to communities nationwide.

“These men and women are among the bravest and most determined heroes in our nation. They are driven and athletic, and our associates are excited to play alongside them in Saturday’s softball game,” said Publix’s Director of Media and Community Relations Maria Brous. “But this is more than just a game to us at Publix. We are honored to play a small role in supporting the USA Patriots in their mission of ‘Serving Beyond the Uniform’ and to celebrate the bravery of these individuals each time they step up to the plate.”

Gates open at 3 p.m.; the game begins at 4 p.m. Admission to this family-friendly event is free.

This event is presented by the Detroit Tigers Foundation of Florida, Publix and the City of Lakeland. To learn more about the USA Patriots and their mission, visit https://usawwast.org/.
