First Command Recognized as a Top Employer of Veterans and Military Spouses

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--First Command Financial Services, Inc. announced today that it has been named a 2020 Military Friendly® Company, marking the company’s eighth consecutive year being recognized nationally as a top employer of veterans and military spouses.

Military Friendly® Employers is an annual recognition program of VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business. Rankings are created using data sources through continuously improved methodology, criteria, and weightings developed with the help of an independent research firm, as well as proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

Also for 2020, First Command recently received the Military Friendly® Employers Gold Award and was recognized as a Military Friendly® Spouse Employer and Military Friendly® Top 10 Brand.

“We are honored to be recognized again this year for our commitment to recruiting veterans and military spouses,” said Scott Spiker, executive chairman of First Command. “We seek to recruit those who’ve lived a military life. Veterans and military spouses make ideal financial coaches because they innately understand the short- and long-term financial needs of service members and their families. Our Nation’s military families face unique personal finance challenges, and they are seeking the help of knowledgeable and trustworthy Financial Advisors to coach them in their pursuit of financial security.”

First Command employs roughly 500 Advisors, with four out of five coming from the ranks of military spouses and veterans. Information on First Command and other top military employers is featured on www.MilitaryFriendly.com.

About Military Friendly® Employers

The Military Friendly® Employers list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 employers nationwide, input from employed veterans and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Employers survey from participating organizations. The survey questions, methodology, criteria, and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm (EY) and an advisory council of educators and employers. Ernst & Young, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services, independently evaluated the scoring methodology used for the Military Friendly® Employers list using the criteria set forth by VIQTORY. The services performed by EY are limited to advisory procedures and do not provide assurance over the scoring methodology. The survey is administered for free and is open to all post-secondary schools and employers that wish to participate. Criteria for consideration can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
