LERETA CEO, John Walsh, Receives PROGRESS In Lending’s Luminary Award

COVINA, Calif.--()--At this year’s Mortgage Bankers Association annual conference in Austin, Texas, PROGRESS in Lending (PIL) Association announced the winners of the first ever Lending Luminary Award™. According to PIL, a luminary is “a person who inspires or influences others” especially one prominent in a particular industry. LERETA’s CEO, John Walsh, was named to the list along with 29 other influential mortgage industry professionals.

Walsh has been in the mortgage industry for more than 20 years and at the helm of LERETA for five years where he manages the day-to-day operations as well as develops methods to enhance the company’s data and analytics offerings. Before joining LERETA, he was president of San Diego-based mortgage technology companies including DataQuick and Del Mar Database.

“It is an honor to be included with so many individuals who have played significant roles in making the mortgage industry better for everyone,” Walsh said. “As I look at the list of honorees, it is not only gratifying but humbling to be included along with so many of my peers who have been real change agents and committed to improving the industry as a whole.”

Prior to joining LERETA, Walsh spent more than 10 years leading technology firms including president of RF/Spectrum Decision Science Corp. and chairman and CEO PureCarbon, Inc. (now Workstream, Inc.). Additionally, he has held senior management positions at Weyerhaeuser Mortgage, SeaFirst Bank and All Pacific Mortgage.

“A luminary inspires and influences others to be better at what they do,” said Tony Garritano, founder of PROGRESS in Lending. “John Walsh has an extensive body of work that has spanned all aspects of the mortgage business. In addition, he has always been someone who has spoken out about how to best improve the space. Naming John a Lending Luminary Award Winner was an easy decision for our editors.”
