Jon Roth, CEO, Announces Resignation

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--()--It was with mixed emotions that the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) Board of Trustees announce that Jon R. Roth, MS, CAE has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the California Pharmacists Association.

Roth is departing CPhA to join the Dallas County Medical Society as only their 4th Executive Vice President & CEO in the organization’s 143-year history. The 7,500 members of the Dallas County Medical Society represent physicians in all practice settings and specialties. It is the second largest medical society in the United States and is larger than 38 other state medical associations.

The Board of Trustees thanks Mr. Roth for his nearly ten years of dedicated service to CPhA and the profession of pharmacy. Under Mr. Roth’s leadership, CPhA achieved landmark legislative success in advancing the practice of pharmacists. In carrying out the CPhA Board of Trustee’s vision, Roth developed and implemented many successful strategies for advancing pharmacist-delivered care, many of which became national models in other states.

In his departure letter, Roth stated, “I believe with all of my heart in the mission of this organization and the important role that pharmacists play in the health care delivery system. I can only hope that in my time with the organization that I have been able to help move the profession forward in some small way. I have all the faith that a new leader will come into this role and continue to build upon our success.”

Under the leadership of President Ken Thai, PharmD, the CPhA Board of Trustees will implement an effective succession plan. In receiving Mr. Roth’s resignation, Dr. Thai stated, “It is with deep regret that we accept Jon’s resignation, but we thank him for his ten years of service. We wish him all the best with his new career opportunity. The Board has absolute confidence in the CPhA staff team and know that our members will continue to receive the very best service during this transition.”

Mr. Roth’s resignation is effective January 10, 2020.
