SAN FRANCISCO--()--W2O, the leading independent analytics-driven, digital-first marketing communications firm to the healthcare sector, today announced that it will provide regional communications support to the International AIDS Society (IAS) for AIDS 2020, the 23rd International AIDS Conference. The biennial conference is the world’s largest gathering focused on HIV and AIDS, bringing together experts and activists to strengthen HIV science and policies to advocate for effective responses. The Conference will be held July 6-10, 2020, and, for the first time ever, will be hosted by two cities, San Francisco and Oakland.

The theme for AIDS 2020 is “Resilience” – resilience in science, resilience in policy, resilience in financing, resilient communities, resilient individuals. In addition to the main program, AIDS 2020 will include 20+ pre-conferences, satellite sessions, a Global Village and an Exhibition Area.

“The IAS is thrilled to be working with W2O to provide regional communications support for AIDS 2020,” said Emily T. Blitz, AIDS 2020 Conference Director. “For every International AIDS Conference, we rely on communications professionals based in the host country to support our efforts. This is key to providing open and accessible Conference information. We are delighted to have the support of W2O to help us with these efforts and build momentum around AIDS 2020 over the coming months.”

In supporting AIDS 2020, W2O will provide integrated communications support, employing its analytics-driven approach to media relations, content strategy and social media to expand the reach of the Conference. W2O will also develop a creative image-based campaign to celebrate the resilience of the individuals who have embodied the strength of the HIV community.

“We are honored to partner with the IAS to foster the continued progress of HIV science and advocacy,” said Mike Nelson, Practice Leader, W2O. “The return of the Conference to the Bay Area signals that the coordinated efforts of advocacy organizations, state and local officials, and industry can lead to extraordinary progress – but at the same time, we know the work is far from done. Given W2O’s healthcare focus and long-standing roots in the Bay Area, we look forward to partnering with the IAS to ensure that the legacy of AIDS 2020 is an indelible one.”
