NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--()--Spectrum Pharmacy Products, a division of Spectrum Chemical Manufacturing Corporation and a leading North American distributor of pharmaceutical compounding chemicals, equipment and supplies, has announced the introduction of a new line of pharmaceutical bases to meet the needs of compounders in providing the best care for their patients. The high-quality Spectrum bases cover a broad range of therapeutic categories: hormone replacement therapy, dermatology, veterinary applications, sports medicine and pain formulas.

Elizabeth Ferguson-Brown, Vice President, Spectrum Chemical, said, “Spectrum Pharmacy Products continues to play an active role in meeting the evolving needs of compounding pharmacists. With our new compounding bases we are helping our customers in serving their patients with the best formulations for a variety of specific conditions.”

Compounding Base Compatibility and Performance

Spectrum Pharmacy Products offers bases that accommodate all concerns including skin type, sensitivities, and active ingredient compatibility. These bases are designed for compounding efficiencies and high API loads. Most of the products are ready-to-use with no wetting required. This feature allows for active pharmaceuticals to be mixed directly into the cream bases, saving time and aiding effective formulation. The bases have undergone extensive performance and stability studies, all downloadable on the Spectrum Compounding Bases web page.

The new bases offered are:

  • Durabase Cream
  • Durabase Advanced Cream
  • HRT Cream
  • HRT Cream Botanical Base
  • Lipocream Base
  • Omnibase

In addition to these new high-performance compounding bases, Spectrum Pharmacy Products continues to offer its Niosome-forming compounding bases for enhanced absorption of commonly compounded APIs. The Niosome bases offer unique biochemical and physical characteristics not exhibited by traditional liposome emulsions, and are intended to improve transdermal absorption of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into the patient’s system with a more stabilizing encapsulation for a range of drug types.
