DevOps Pioneer and Visionary John Willis Joins Liatrio as a Strategic Advisor

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Liatrio, the Enterprise Delivery Acceleration consulting firm, announced today that DevOps pioneer and visionary John Willis will serve as a strategic advisor to the firm. Willis is the co-author of The DevOps Handbook with Gene Kim, Jez Humble, and Patrick Debois and co-author of Beyond the Phoenix Project with Kim. For the past decade, Willis’s work, writing, and speaking engagements have focused on elevating IT organizations culture, engineering productivity, and increasing company profitability through DevOps practices.

As an early adopter of DevOps practices including infrastructure as code and containerization, Willis offers a rare mix of theory and real-world practice with a long history of helping diverse enterprises implement technology transformations. As a strategic consultant at Liatrio, he will share his transformation wins and challenges with Liatrio’s enterprise clients, helping everyone understand the big picture and solidifying DevOps methodologies and approaches going forward.

“John is an exceptional addition to our team,” said Chris Blackburn, founder, and CEO of Liatrio. “As a DevOps visionary, author, and conference speaker, he’s a widely respected voice in our space. He’ll build excitement about technology transformations by sharing personal insights about the DevOps journey and the thinking that has driven DevOps towards what it is today. Only a handful of people have his industry knowledge and we’re thrilled he has chosen to contribute his expertise to our efforts.”

Willis has been an essential player in the development of the DevOps movement from the start. He has worked in the IT management industry for more than 35 years. John held senior leadership roles and had a diverse background at a number of DevOps elite organizations including Docker, Socketplane (sold to Docker), and Chef (formerly Opscode), where he formalized the training, evangelism, and professional services functions at the firm.

“Transformation takes a long time, and few companies have the staying power to stick with the process to achieve success,” said John Willis. “In a perfect world, companies would do the work on their own, but the reality is that they need the expertise of a company like Liatrio. I love the work Liatrio is doing. Serving as an advisor to Liatrio means I get to work with some of the best minds in the industry. I’m looking forward to helping enterprises execute on their DevOps technology transformations from the ground up.”

Liatrio is also excited to announce the company’s new Ignite Lab workshops, where Willis and members of the Liatrio team will leverage modern engineering techniques to guide technology leaders and engineers through an accelerated product delivery journey. Upcoming Liatrio Ignite Lab events include:
