Kids See More Than Cars at Walser Automotive’s ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’

MINNEAPOLIS--()--The art of sales and service, marketing, and community outreach are all in a day’s work at Walser Automotive Group. Showcasing those unique sides of the automotive industry and more are all on the agenda today during Walser’s ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day.’

The Minneapolis-based automotive dealer group is hosting the event in conjunction with the National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day with a focus that’s two-fold:

“Our employees have communicated to us that family is the most important value to them, and Walser has a continued commitment to connect families to the work our employees do,” said Walser Chief Human Resources Officer Sherry Schultz. “Additionally, we are always enhancing our community outreach with efforts placed on education and workforce development for the generations to come.”

Throughout the day, children of Walser employees will take part in activities focused on different aspects of the automotive industry including vehicle inventory, marketing, sales training, and philanthropic giving. The event is open to kids ages 7-14.

These adult career roles take will come alive with a kids’ choice car show, a logo design session, and a chance to record the perfect sales pitch. Children will also work with longtime Walser Foundation partner Fraser, to assemble autism-geared sensory toys as a volunteer service project.

Kids will also experience the more traditional aspects of the business including visiting the sales, service, and parts departments at Walser Nissan in Burnsville. No matter the industry role, Schultz said the day is focused on memorable engagement between family and career opportunities.

“We believe in bringing your whole self to work each day, and that includes the commitment our employees hold to their families,” said Schultz. “We’re excited to educate children on the important work that Walser moms and dads do every day.”

As the automotive industry faces a growing workforce shortage, specifically in experienced automotive service technicians, Walser is committed to making opportunities in the field more accessible through education and development of the local workforce.

Through 60 years of service, Walser Automotive Group has become a pioneer in the automotive industry. Walser’s progressive commitment to growth, innovation, and the customer experience has changed the car-buying journey. Walser operates 25 dealerships and affiliated businesses featuring major and luxury brands throughout Minnesota, Kansas and Illinois.
