MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SINET, a purpose driven organization focused on advancing Cybersecurity innovation through public-private collaboration, unveiled the winner of the 2019 SINET Impact Award during their ITSEF Forum at the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley on April 11. Recognized by the SINET Cybersecurity community for his notable contributions of outstanding significance to this critically important industry sector, Phil Venables, Senior Advisor (Risk & Cybersecurity) and Board Director, Goldman Sachs, is the 2019 honoree.

Established in 2018, the SINET Impact Award was created to recognize a Cybersecurity professional who has dedicated their professional life to creating and building a successful community and contributing to the growth and success of the Cybersecurity industry globally. Recipients of the annual award are instrumental in the formation and growth of the Cybersecurity ecosystem and have consistently set high-performance standards for the industry as a whole.
Each year, SINET founders Robert and Heather Rodriguez honor the recipient of the award with a $10,000 donation to the charity of their choice and challenge the SINET Community to pay it forward and match the gift. Venables has chosen Girls Who Code to be this year's charitable organization.
Girls Who Code is an international nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in technology, and leading the movement to inspire, educate and equip young women with the computing skills needed to pursue 21st-century opportunities. Girls Who Code started in 2012 with 20 girls in a New York City conference room. Today, Girls Who Code has taught 185,000 girls how to code. Graduates from their programs are not only going on to major in computer science and related fields at 15 times the national average, but they have become change agents in their communities.
