Tap into Hudson Yards with Visa

Visa will offer exclusive cardholder benefits and showcase seamless contactless technology at Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighborhood

Visitors to Hudson Yards can tap and donate to Women’s World Banking at Visa’s digital installation

NEW YORK--()--Today, Visa (NYSE: V) celebrates the opening of Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighborhood that merges the best in culture and commerce at a must-see destination. As the Official Payment Technology Partner at Hudson Yards, Visa plans to offer Visa cardholders exclusive access to on-property experiential, retail and dining experiences. Visa will offer visitors the ability to experience the speed, convenience and security of contactless technology that can be used to tap to pay; Visa will also leverage its sponsorship of Hudson Yards to continue its support of female entrepreneurs by providing an on-site installation where visitors will be able to donate to various female-focused charities, including Women’s World Banking.

“Hudson Yards is an exciting new opportunity to show domestic and international audiences the best of Visa, from payments to purpose,” said Mary Ann Reilly, Senior Vice President North America Marketing, Visa. “We are building a portfolio of benefits that enables cardholders to have unique experiences that only Visa can provide.”

It Pays to Pay with Visa

As the preferred way to pay on-property, Visa plans to pilot and promote “only at” Hudson Yards perks for cardholders. At launch, this will include:

  • The Vessel: Visa cardholders will experience preferred all-day access to visit the Vessel1, the centerpiece of Hudson Yards. The Vessel is a spiral staircase and urban landmark comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs, offering visitors remarkable views of the Public Square and Gardens.
  • Secret Menu: Visa cardholders who present their cards to the cashier at the Fuku restaurant will unlock a secret menu item2.
  • VIP Tour: The concierge desk in the retail center will offer Visa cardholders private tours of the Hudson Yards Gallery. Grab a welcome treat and go on a VIP tour that provides an inside look at Hudson Yards as a hub for fashion, design, communications and art. Book a tour through the Hudson Yards Residential Gallery3.

Visa will work to establish subsequent benefits and experiences that encourage cardholders to unlock exclusive access by presenting their Visa cards or tapping to pay with their contactless card or payment-enabled device at checkout.

Tap Into Tomorrow

To complement this state-of-the-art retail center, Visa is building a digital installation where visitors can tap and donate to Women’s World Banking. This digital installation encourages others to join Visa in its effort to champion female entrepreneurs globally. Women’s World Banking is a non-profit providing low-income women entrepreneurs around the world the financial tools and resources they need to thrive and pursue their dreams.

Over the course of this inaugural year, Visa plans to continue to demonstrate its commitment to women at activations taking place at Hudson Yards. During its sponsorship of and activation at New York Fashion Week: The Shows, Visa offered visitors the chance to shop at contactless vending machines, where 100% of the purchase price of all products sold from the machines were donated to female-focused charitable organizations. One of the products in these vending machines was provided by sundays, a female-owned and operated business and Hudson Yards merchant, which creates nontoxic nail polish and offers an elevated nail salon experience focused on wellness. 100% of the purchase price of products sold from the sundays vending machine within Visa’s NYFW retail experience were donated to Girls Inc.

“As a female entrepreneur, it’s incredible to work with a brand like Visa who shares our vision of empowering women,” said Amy Ling Lin, Founder of sundays nail salon, a Hudson Yards merchant. “Working with Visa has helped grow our sundays following and given us opportunities to reach new customers. We are excited to continue working together to celebrate women.”
