AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pivot3, a leading provider of intelligent infrastructure solutions, today announced that it achieved Common Criteria certification for its Acuity hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) software platform under an Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 2+. Common Criteria is an internationally recognized set of guidelines (International Organization for Standardization 15408), which define a common framework for evaluating security features and capabilities of information technology security products.
This certification assures both government and private-sector organizations that Pivot3 provides the infrastructure necessary to mitigate emerging threats without compromising security, resilience and manageability at scale required for mission-critical applications. Pivot3 had previously attained Common Criteria certification on its prior generation software platform.
“Threats faced by organizations today are fluid, ever-changing and increasingly complex, and CIOs, CISOs and CSOs need to know their infrastructure meets the most stringent security requirements,” said Ben Bolles, Vice President of Product, Pivot3. “Pivot3 has proven itself as a leader in providing security, resilience and manageability at scale for customers with mission-critical applications and environments. With the Common Criteria certification – considered to be the gold standard for security – IT leaders have the confidence that their infrastructure meets the highest security and data protection standards.”
The Common Criteria certification process consists of several evaluation assurance levels, each one more stringent than the last, with product security testing performed by accredited independent, third-party laboratories. This evaluation is recognized by over 28 participating countries, and others who follow the Common Criteria program unofficially such as the European Union.
The U.S. government (and many other governments around the world) mandates Common Criteria certification of security products for purchases. All U.S. federal agencies are required to purchase commercial products that have met specified third-party assurance requirements and have been tested by an accredited national laboratory. Many commercial organizations also require Common Criteria certification for infrastructure and software solutions due to the certification’s intense security standards.
Corsec, the global leader in product security requirements hardening, assisted Pivot3 with its Common Criteria evaluation and helped streamline the certification effort.
“As government agencies and regulated industries work to modernize their infrastructure, they will rely heavily on certified solutions to protect and secure sensitive data,” said Jake Nelson, director of marketing at Corsec Security, Inc. “The completion of the Common Criteria process not only opens doors to new and exciting markets for Pivot3 with its Acuity platform, but it also demonstrates the company’s commitment to product security and the protection of our nation’s infrastructure.”
Pivot3 Acuity first launched in 2017 as the industry’s first priority-aware and policy-based HCI platform with advanced policy-based management and NVMe PCIe flash, delivering six times the performance of conventional HCI solutions and allowing organizations to automate data protection, placement and performance, and delivering unmatched management simplicity at enterprise scale. The platform has gained significant traction among federal, state and local government agencies and military organizations, in addition to large enterprises.
In December 2018, Pivot3 announced new policy-based security management capabilities on Acuity, allowing organizations to automate and simplify the process of protecting sensitive data with comprehensive, standards-based security for encryption and key management as well as automate regulatory compliance across deployments at the edge, core and cloud.
