RESTON, Va.--()--Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) announced today that Bob Ritchie will lead the company’s software practice, effective March 11. Ritchie replaces Kevin Ikeda, who retires this month, and will report to Josh Jackson, executive vice president and general manager of the Solutions and Technology Group.

In this role, Ritchie will be responsible for strategy and investment in software solutions; development, integration, and sustainment of software applications; and migration of legacy code and apps to new environments. Software underpins almost everything SAIC does for its customers in defense, civilian, intelligence, and space markets. SAIC employs almost 3,000 software professionals with expertise in application modernization, complex, agile software development processes such as DevSecOps and software acceleration, mission and enterprise software, intelligent software, and cloud native applications.

“Bob is a visionary who can carry the torch following Kevin’s retirement. Kevin and his team have established a strong foundation on which we can build, and I thank him for his service and leadership at SAIC,” Jackson said. “As we seek to grow and increasingly drive commercial approaches into our software practice, Bob will lead us in the right direction, supporting our expansion in areas of application modernization and advanced development with an eye toward transforming the way we deliver solutions.”

Ritchie brings a unique combination of commercial leadership and government services expertise to this role. Before joining SAIC, Ritchie was director of software engineering for Capital One, where he and his team led an engineering organization of more than 500 professionals across machine learning, cloud architecture, serverless architecture, site reliability, cyber, fulfillment IT, and case and process management. For Capital One, the 10th largest bank in the United States, Bob helped lead the migration of 400 distributed apps from on-premises to Amazon Web Services.

Ritchie began his career as a tech lead for SAIC and was a Research Fellow in 2016 specializing in micro-services architecture.

Ritchie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from Virginia Tech. He holds eight Amazon Web Services certifications.
