National Philanthropic Trust Donors Recommend Record 46,000+ Grants Exceeding $1 Billion in 2018

First Year of Tax Overhaul, Stock Market Fluctuations, and Heightened Philanthropic Interest Contribute to 28% Increase in NPT Grantmaking

JENKINTOWN, Pa.--()--National Philanthropic Trust (NPT), the largest national, independent donor-advised fund (DAF) sponsor issued a record 46,452 grants to charities on behalf of its donors, representing more than $1 billion in 2018.

“The number of grants from NPT donors grew 28 percent. For the first time, the value of NPT’s grants exceeded $1.0 billion in 2018, reaffirming DAF donors’ heightened engagement and commitment to charitable giving,” said Eileen Heisman, CEO of NPT. “New tax laws fueled interest in donor-advised funds. We expect grantmaking will continue to grow as new donors harness the power and flexibility of their donor-advised funds to support their favorite causes.”
