Tyler Technologies Enhances eFileTexas and re:SearchTX Portals to Protect Sensitive Case Information

Redaction tool protects sensitive information for filers and Texas court clerks

PLANO, Texas--()--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that it has added redaction functionality to its eFileTexas and re:SearchTX portals used by the state of Texas. eFileTexas is the comprehensive e-filing solution for the state, while re:SearchTX is a web-based portal that provides immediate and secure access to a consolidated database of case information from all 254 Texas counties. The addition of redaction capabilities affords legal professionals using eFileTexas the ability to keep sensitive case information private when electronically filing.

“Incorporating redaction services into the e-filing solution should enhance the simplicity of the e-filing process by attorneys and other legal professionals, while keeping sensitive information private,” said Terry Derrick, general manager of eSolutions for Tyler.

Tyler collaborated closely with the Texas OCA to configure its eFileTexas and re:SearchTX portals to redact sensitive information defined by Rule 21c of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. This includes information that may appear in court filings such as credit card information, social security numbers, birth dates, and anything else that would be considered sensitive. Previously, documents containing sensitive information had to be redacted prior to initiating the e-filing process. Now, Tyler’s redaction tool offers this service to eliminate the sensitive information within court documents while electronically filing them with the court.

“We have already seen great success for individual filers and our legal community utilizing eFileTexas and the re:SearchTX portal,” said David Slayton, Administrative Director of the Texas OCA. “The addition of redaction capabilities is another way we’re working to better serve our community.”

Redaction will be used by two key groups – filers using the eFileTexas electronic filing system and Texas court clerks. When filers submit cases and corresponding documents through eFileTexas, the redaction tool automatically detects sensitive information in accordance with Rule 21c and block that information from documents. The filer, and clerk alike, may make manual adjustments to the automated redaction candidates before completing the electronic filing process, and making the final, redacted copy available.

“We’re pleased to offer redaction services for both filers and clerks as it adds another layer of assurance for our users,” said Derrick. “Enhancing our solutions with this service aligns with Tyler’s long-term strategy of elevating access to justice for everyone, and we hope to make this service more broadly available as we continue to expand our e-filing solution across the country.”
