MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Armor Correctional Health Services is pleased to announce that Timothy E. Hughes, M.D. has been promoted to Chief Medical Officer. Previously, Hughes served as Associate Chief Medical Director.

Hughes has 33 years of experience in the medical field. Before joining Armor, he was Regional Medical Director of Southeast Jail Operations at Corizon Health, a correctional health-care provider, and was responsible for the clinical oversight of all contracts.
He is also currently a departmental/tactical surgeon for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama, where his duties include support of all field operations and in-service training of deputies and specialty teams such as SWAT. Hughes served as a senior flight surgeon in the United States Air Force.
Hughes has a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Alabama, College of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Hughes is board certified; is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; and is a member of several associations including the American College of Physician Executives and the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare.
