Former DHS and Secret Service Leader Dr. Cedric Sims Joins Booz Allen Hamilton

MCLEAN, Va.--()--Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) announced today that Dr. Cedric Sims, a respected homeland security expert whose career has included leadership positions with both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Secret Service (USSS), has joined Booz Allen as a senior vice president in the firm’s Civilian Services group. Dr. Sims concluded his government service in 2012.

In his new role, Dr. Sims will develop strategies to foster integration across the firm’s homeland security business in support of more complex missions. Sims joins as Booz Allen continues to work closely with DHS and the homeland security community on their toughest challenges, including IT modernization and ensuring infrastructure resiliency. His efforts will build upon Booz Allen’s support implementing the DHS Continuous Diagnostics Monitoring (CDM) program – an initiative that secures nearly 80 percent of the .gov enterprise, comprising more than 19,700 sites and 1.75 million users.

Kristine Martin Anderson, executive vice president and head of Booz Allen’s Civilian Services Group said, “As DHS celebrates its fifteen-year anniversary, our nation faces an expanding set of threats that demand new strategies and technologies, like automation and artificial intelligence, to revolutionize how we protect our homeland. Cedric’s commitment to living the mission and deep experience in homeland security will bolster the integration that we help clients realize at DHS and across government—work that is critical in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens.”

Most recently, Dr. Sims served as the President and CEO of Evermay Consulting Group, a management consulting company that creates partnerships between federal and industry clients. He previously served in key leadership and operational roles at federal and state agencies. In his last federal appointment, Dr. Sims established the DHS Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management. As lead executive, his efforts promoted better accountability of an $18 billion portfolio of DHS acquisition investments, and he matured the acquisition risk management process. Before joining DHS, he held several leadership roles at USSS. Notably, he implemented the first five-year strategic plan in USSS history.

For ten years, Dr. Sims served in various management and research roles for the Texas A&M University System to promote federal, state, and local interoperability through the Advanced Law Enforcement and Response Technology (ALERT) program. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in both Computer Science and Journalism from Texas A&M University, as well as a Doctorate in Engineering from the same institution.
